Excessive radium found in seven eastern Wisconsin wells
The Wisconsin DNR detected radium above the 5 pCi/L standard in seven eastern Wisconsin community water supplies and suspects other deep sandstone wells inland along Lake Michigan may show elevated levels. About 150 regional systems will be checked, with possible investigations to pinpoint the formation and methods to meet standards. No immediate health threat is seen, though risks are nonzero over a lifetime.
