Pinzgauer Bull Tops River Falls Sale At St Croix Station

Bob and Sheri Schmidt's 1390 pound Pinzgauer bull, crowned top performer at the St Croix Valley Bull Test, sold for 1375 to Prescott breeder Oscar Rieken as 73 bulls sold. The Schmidts operate a 1400 acre Minnesota farm supplying corn alfalfa and hogs. They shifted to Pinzgauers a decade ago after crossbreeding with Charolais and Limousin and share pride in home-bred stock including a Denver Stock Show grand champion.

Pinzgauer bull tops sale at St Croix Valley Bull Test

The top gainer, a Pinzgauer bull entered by Bob and Sheri Schmidt of Lonsdale Minnesota, sold for 1375 to Jim Rieken of Prescott Wisconsin. Sixty tested bulls brought nearly 55000 dollars, averaging 917. The two-state sale drew 103 animals from 45 breeders. 69 were eligible.
