Reduced tillage boosts yields on Patterson farm soils
On the Patterson dairy farm, reduced tillage and organic matter improve erosion control and weed suppression. Don Mayer and Mr. Timmons note gullies faded after switching, with corn yields rising 30 to 40 percent and hay quality improving, despite rough soil surface and long-term commitment to the practice.
