Tomah to Host Second Hearing on Manure Rules
The second of seven public hearings on DNR NR 243 manure-handling rules will be held July 7 at the Tomah Senior High School auditorium at 10 a.m. The hearings examine require permits for wastewater discharge and manure storage for large feedlots, with smaller operations possibly covered if judged to pollute state waters.

Chippewa County Holstein Breeders plan their annual twilight meeting at 8 p.m. on July 14 at the Norman and Larry Rohl farm south of Bloomer on Fairview Avenue. Guest speakers include Mike Snyder of the Wisconsin Holstein Association and Roger Olson of Milk Marketing Board District 6. A judging contest and dairy lunch accompany the program. The Bohl farm hosts 87 Holsteins producing 17 006 pounds of milk and 656 pounds of fat with a BAA of 100.6.
