Doctor warns caution around stinging insects nationwide
Health guidance notes 30 to 50 annual deaths from severe insect stings in the United States with 1 million to 2 million serious non fatal reactions. In Wisconsin honey bees hornets wasps and yellow jackets pose major problems as bees leave venom sacs and the stinger behind. Adults face greater risk than children and faster reactions mean more danger. Hypersensitive individuals should avoid areas with bees or wasps and carry adrenaline. If stung seek medical care and consider skin testing and desensitization therapy.
