Wisconsin extends deer season as DNA goals fall short
Wisconsin officials hailed a nine day extension of the deer season as a success despite a light turnout and a kill of about 276000, far below the DNA target of 285000 to 300000. In Grygla Minnesota state lawmakers debate an elk hunting season as DNR rounds up the herd near Grygla Gatzke and relocates to Red Lake Reservation about 40 miles away. About 45 elk have drifted onto farmland while three roundups found only three elk. Legislation to relocate the herd was passed earlier this year with a Jan 10 hearing planned in Thief River Falls.
