Weather warnings now on TV in Wisconsin
A new system of severe weather warnings began December 1 on the Wisconsin Educational Television network. Viewers will see a white W symbol in the lower right corner when severe weather is threatened, followed 30 seconds later by a National Weather Service report.

Early snowfall limits state frost penetration in Wisconsin
Wisconsin's first crop weather report shows snow cover statewide as of December 4 with frost depth averaging 1.4 inches, an inch below last year and just under the long term December average. Snow depth averages four inches, with seven inches frost depth in 1976 and earlier heavy snow years noted, Eau Claire reporting nine inches on the ground.

Barron County reported a low of 27 below, while Pierce County saw an 18 degree high the coldest in the region. Snow was light with Chippewa and Eau Claire counties reporting about an inch on December 7.
