Researchers from the Small Farm Energy Project find that white or sheltered fuel tanks reflect heat and reduce evaporation. In warm weather gasoline tanks can lose about one third, with caps to 4 psi lowering losses. a year’s wasted fuel could exceed $75, making a vent cap or paint cost effective.
UW Madison accelerates Farm Short Course with 170 pre registered students for the 15 week program running Nov 12 to March 14. About 25,000 in scholarships are offered statewide with 78 applications already on file. Deadline is Sept 1.
