Raw milk on Wisconsin farms fuels Senate bill clash

Wisconsin Senate debates SB 448 to legalize regular raw milk sales direct from dairy farms. Supporters led by Sen. Jim Harsdorf argue it helps surplus milk and consumer choice, while critics from the state agriculture department warn brucellosis risk, quality erosion, and public health concerns. The measure would require monthly testing, farm sales in designated areas, lab checks, and state oversight with an estimated annual cost of about 177000 dollars. Hearing date to be set by Sen. Tom Harnisch.
