Eau Claire County approves IPM ordinance for parks
The Eau Claire County Board of Supervisors adopts an integrated pest management policy for county parks and forests. It does not ban 2,4-D or 2,4,5-T outright but restricts chemical pesticide use to essential cases after alternatives. Aerial spraying requires a public hearing. ground applications may also trigger hearings. Private land use remains unaffected.

Area exhibitors win state fair awards
Three west central Wisconsin exhibitors earned top honors at the Wisconsin State Fair in West Allis. Lisa Mullen of Bloomer won grand champion as a Holstein senior yearling in October December, while the Pufahl family of Mauston received the premier breeder award in Southdown sheep and James and Mary Kipp of Loyal took the Shropshire exhibitor prize. Terry Koopmans of Darien, 15, claimed the grand champion female in the junior Holstein show.
