Rusk County seeks replacement for ag agent Bruce Nelson

Rusk County still seeks a county extension agent after Bruce Nelson resigned to become a farm loan officer in Ladysmith. The vacancy, posted again with lower education requirements, targets bachelor degree holders and pays 14 000 to 18 000 dollars. The county and state fund the position, with the ag committee needing approval to hire.

Washburn County junior livestock sale set at fairground

The fifth annual Washburn County junior livestock sale starts at 7 p.m. at the fairground with thirty head auctioned, ten steers lambs and hogs each. Buyers last year came from Spooner Stone Lake Haugen Shell Lake Minong Cumberland Luck Rice Lake and a cooperative in St Paul. Judging runs from morning to mid afternoon per Mrs Melvin Swan.
