County tax case settlement voided by Circuit Court ruling
Circuit Court judges ruled that county commissioners lack authority to settle tax cases after they reach the county treasurer for collection. The dispute over a $4500 back tax judgment against E A Peter was settled by county officials for $1000, a move deemed unauthorized and reversed for further proceedings. The decision, with costs reversed, remands the case to the common pleas court for trial, with possible appeal to the state supreme court.
