Levi Yoder of Sugar Creek ended his life by hanging in his barn on Tuesday. He had refused to resume the Amish dress after a hospital stay, despite family and his mother's will demanding it. Neighbors note a period of mental decline and repeated threats to self.
Coshocton National Bank is named on the national roll of honor for banks with surplus and undivided profits above capital. It ranks 26th among Ohio banks, with capital of 50000 and surplus and profits of 70000. The bank receives praise from New York Financier for its strong showing and integrity.
A report from Walhonding notes the likely largest copperhead seen in Coshocton County was killed on L. F. McVey’s farm one mile east of Walhonding by Charles Kent and Stant Rusepburg. The four and a half foot serpent, though unusually large, was dispatched as locals warn of increasing strikes in the area.
Elwood Murphy known as Young Poke, famed as an hypnotic subject at the Elk show, suffered a brain concussion Tuesday afternoon when Archie Simpson’s knee hit his head during a potato picking dispute at South Third Street. He was taken to a nearby house, revived after about 30 minutes, and later moved home for recovery.
Professor Jeremiah W. Jenks of Cornell University, noted for diplomacy in China, previously aided the government there in establishing a currency system. Jenks, a Michigan native and University of Michigan alumnus, is fifty two.

Padang Sumatra June 9 an earthquake followed by a tidal wave destroyed the town of Korinchi southeast of here. Two hundred people were killed and many were injured.
Mrs Darner, 65, longtime president of Adamsville, died Tuesday after an illness. Survived by husband Judson Darnet and five children. She had lived at Wills Creek until four months ago. The funeral was set for Thursday at the A M.

Robert Hanlon and son plan a new furniture and undertaking store in the New Wisenburg building at Main and Sixth Streets Coshocton set for September first. Russell Manion joins as partner though currently in Tennessee. The venture follows their Mack Co employment and prior experience with Dilton and Hanlon in Coshocton and Cincinnati embalming study.

Willing Russell five weeks old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Dicker, residing near Coonerdale, was found dead in bed by its parents Wednesday morning. The child suffered from heart trouble since birth. Funeral arrangements are not fully completed but will probably be held Thursday.
