Huge Engine Explosion Kills Manufacturer in Newark

In Newark Ohio on a boiler blast at Scheidler machine shops Reinhard Scheidler, a leading local manufacturer and vice president of Newark Savings Bank, was killed. Seven others were injured including Bert Vial James Cain James Markham August Hess William Jennings Emmet Siegel and Edgar and son. The engine had just been tested and was near shipment when the explosion hurled the massive machine 40 feet and wrecked part of the shop. All injured were expected to recover.

Sensational Kidnap Attempt After Cleveland Incident

Miss Leona Londquist, daughter of Oscar Londquist of Coshocton, narrowly escaped a kidnap attempt in Cleveland after leaving a theater with a companion. A shadowed assailant seized her at the porch, muffling her cries, delivering a blow to the face, and causing her to fall bleeding as her mother rushed down to aid her.

D. W. Snyder manager at Balch mill in the forks fell ten feet while repairing shafting. He struck his side on another shaft and suffered severe bruises. He was taken home on East Main street with a physician noting no internal injuries.
