Wilber Eckert, son of Peter Eckert of Fifth street, fell from a tree in the Spangler orchard on Tuesday afternoon and broke his leg. Mrs. Bachert witnessed the accident and Doctor Carr, who happened to be nearby, treated the injury. The fracture is between the knee and thigh and the boy is mending as well as can be expected.
Two cases heard this morning with Judge Eason on motions and demurrers. In one Tiverton township matter John Strass v Samuel Cenkle was argued Tuesday afternoon. A receiver was ordered to sell the disputed property. Christian Flood won a judgment against Eastman Flood for 740.60 on a note.
Census enumerators begin work this morning on the west side of town. Residents are urged to notify enumerators if they are away or cannot be counted to ensure a full population tally for Coshee ton.
Two mech wurphine William Murphy of North Twelfth street nearly ended his life Tuesday evening by overdosing on morphine. Dr. F M Marshall was summoned and treated him for hours before he died.
John Letherow, a well known farmer in Monroe Township, reported two horses stolen. The thief escaped without leaving a clue to identity.
Frank Miskimen of Newcomers Town asked surveyor S. M. Moore on Wednesday to repair a county bridge near that place. He warned the structure is in poor condition and could fail in high water, but would cost only a few hundred dollars to restore and save the county a new bridge.

The council, with all members present and Solicitor Voorhees advising, discussed police pay requests but rejected raises while authorizing a gas franchise bid by Dwight E Sapp and associates. The Chestnut street paving ordinance and Oklahoma annexation bill were approved amid a busy Tuesday session. Clerk Wagner received extra compensation of 100 dollars for his first term.
City council debated raising police pay by ten dollars monthly and increasing the force from five officers. Mayor Cassingham cited insufficient manpower to guard the city, noting calls from unprotected areas require beat officers to respond, leaving others short.
For twenty years the Coshocton Light Heat and Fuel Co. seeks a natural gas franchise via ordinance style petition.
