Heated House Battle Over Brannock and Local Option Bill
In Columbus February 26 the house saw a sharp clash as Representative Welker substituted the Brannock draft for the Jones local option measure. Only 14 voted for the original Brannock draft, and the substitute failed while the Jones bill passed. Several Democrats and Republicans debated Brannock’s legacy, Governor Pattison’s health was discussed in relation to a requisition case, and salary bills for county officers progressed.
