Rough box stolen for cupboard in Dresden

In Dresden a rough box belonging to a burial casket ordered by Undertaker Schaumleffel for Mrs. Gordon Roberson’s remains was stolen Saturday night. A Polander living west of the undertaking establishment carried off the box and converted it into a cupboard.

Indianapolis February discussions resume between miners and operators over wage demands. Observers expect no agreement and possible April 16 work suspension. Operators favor a roughly 10 percent raise but say any increase must be borne by consumers. The iron bridge over the Tuscarawas between here and Newcomers town sank into turbid waters late Saturday afternoon. The single span collapsed while a second double span remains over the old channel. A fissure in the east abutment prompted county commissioners to close the bridge, and engineer Moore predicted doom. Replacement plans and a new abutment are expected after weather improves. The 165 foot structure, built in 1886, suffered damage largely from faulty pier construction, with eye witnesses Moore and Baker noting the event.
