Fire yesterday in the private cal of the Great Lazarette caused about 10000 in loss with no insurance. Much of the material burned was irreplaceable. The wagon shop at Wilson avenue, previously a smithy, is now open for business and will stay open through winter. John Medley Walker and Lawrence advertise as a place to buy good shoes.
The Main Street skating rink was packed on Christmas night as skaters and spectators enjoyed holiday fun. Herman Stahley dressed as Santa wowed the crowd and Bertha Strauss won a lace collar for the most graceful lady skater while Thad Hargsht received a prize for the best gentleman’s skate.
The Imperial band presented leader Orin Shrigley with a handsome mission rocker as a Christmas present to acknowledge his services to the popular musical organization. The note highlights appreciation and the festive gesture within the group.
Meridian Mississippi December 26 a rear collision on the Alabama and Vicksburg railway at Clunkey killed two men and seriously injured three others. Engineer Tucker and fireman Vance Lader were badly hurt. Dave Coker suffered arm and chest injuries while Peter Kenostay of Bay City Washington was mangled. Passengers were shaken. the freight crew jumped clear as the forward crash trapped Coker in the cab.
The Bartenders union will host the final 1905 meeting at Lacbor Jia with a fine banquet. Trades assembly officers will be invited, promising a gay holiday week event. Miss Myrtle Mowrer has resigned from Kandy Kitchen and will join Bell Telephone Co. as an operator after a short leave.
Compton, a Roscoe resident, misplaced a Christmas package on his way home from down town. It contained a singham and several handkerchiefs to be given as gifts. Mrs. Austins Buckwheat is advertised as the genuine flavor.
A chaotic street scene at a Wheel depot Saturday afternoon ends with a man shaking another as crowd laughs and pockets spill from a startled victim. Bystanders joke about Christmas presents while the aggressor claims the loot was his own.
The Quintet rollers conclude a three week Park View bowling contest with Lightell and Ehrich leading. Lightell posts 387 for five games with scores 71 0 67 66 66. Donald tallies 57 pins, Williams and Wright add 25 each. A game with Utica and a potential match with the Limemeds of Canton are on schedule.
In Fairmont West Virginia on December 25 a jury deliberating the murder of Mrs Hieron May Payton reported no possible agreement. Mrs Payton and Frank Wright reported to have married at Wheeling West Virginia two weeks after Payton's death Wright is jailed as an alleged accessory to the crime.
Cecil Moore, an employee of the Vliss factory, was hurt when his right arm became dislocated at the shoulder and the bone broke. He is confined to home and will be unable to use the arm for several days while resting in bed.
J N Collier deputy inspector for Coshocton County will inspect Rich ard Lanning Post No 69 G A R this evening. Elliott resigns as general manager of Coshocton Ice Storage Co and Renner Bros retail trades merge under new City Ice Co. The firm, incorporated in Ohio with capital stock 100, will be led by Evie, C P Renner and W Renner and others.
Two cases of diphtheria were reported to Health Officer Miller in the past two days. Both cases involve children residing on East Male Street, one child of Dan Lewis and the other child of Wittines Thompson. Immediate precautions were taken at both homes.
