City officials outline grading drainage and curbing work for Chestnut street using six inch concrete foundation, sheet asphalt, and a multi layer pavement system. Specifications call for precise mixing tests, hot binder and wearing surface, and a guarantee of a smooth, durable road not yielding in summer or cracking in winter.
The contractor must coat the strip with hot pure asphaltic cement to fill any openings after refiring. All materials and every operation of mixing, heating, and placement are subject to inspection by the engineer or an authorized inspector.

TEN NEW MILLS The American Sheet Steel Company will dismantle the Munice plant and move it to Cambridge, adding 11 mills to Cambridge and expanding operations to other Indiana towns. The Cambridge works will total 21 mills, making it one of the country’s leading facilities.

News reached the city Wednesday of the death of Samuel Sternberger in Cleveland a week ago. Pneumonia was the cause. Deceased was a traveling salesman in the employ of a clothing manufacturing company and was well known there. Mrs. Sternberger was Miss Wertheimer of this city, sister of Mrs. Dave Schanfarber and Mrs. Ike Schanfarber.
Doctor Cochran who was disabled by rheumatism after leaving college plans to open a dental office in the Ricketts building. Furniture is being placed and all rooms will be ready before week’s end.
An Ohio jail inmate writes to Sheri Hedge in August 1900, claiming to reveal a concealed crime over the past six weeks. He asks if Kilbuck has a station agent killed years ago, allegedly shot, and says a man has confessed to Frank Austin, hinting at a broader fatal incident.
The sheriff handed the matter to his attorney John C. Adams. On Adams advice the Killbuck group led by Mr and Mrs Warner Strauss plus George Robb Stephen Shrimplin and George Kuhn traveled toward Coshocton around 6 pm Wednesday. Mrs Strauss had seen the murderer in her father’s state. Robb was involved in a dispute with him. Shrimplin had spoken with him across the bar at the Central House and Kuhn was the last Killbuck resident to speak to Norwood before the shooting.
Sheriff Medge Deputy McCollough and Attorney Adams awaited the arrival of a key witness at the Park hotel. Ed Morris, questioned about the Norwood killing, denied recognition of the suspects, while Killbuck residents insisted Morris was not the man. The real suspect was described as darker, bearded, and a molder by trade, distinguishing him from Morris.
A Cleve land Akron & Columbus agent Fred Norwood was shot and killed near Killbuck on September 3 1 1. The killer fled after leaving a shotgun shell box near the body. A rough stranger spent the day in the village buying shells and gambling at the Central hotel bar.
A box of shells found by Norwood's code matched a shell the stranger showed earlier. Bloodhounds tracked a faint trail but the suspect remains missing. A $1,100 reward was offered for the capture. Norwood’s name again linked to local Killbuck party reports, though three years prior Penor was named in accounts.

Joe MacDowell with Chris Royer petitions common pleas court against Matilda Trenor and John F Davied and spouse to divide a five sevenths share of the estate realty totaling 65 acres with five acres reserved to the widow. Defendants hold the remaining two sevenths as heirs. Royer seeks division of the land or, if injurious, sale and distribution of proceeds.
W A Leavengood of Mill Creek township slipped and fell carrying a scythe, cutting a bad gash in his leg. A storm Sunday night struck a large barn on the Wash Powell farm in Adams township, burning it with all contents lost. Insurance on the barn was $500.
Engineer John Hanlon relocates from the Selby building to the new Ricketts building on Main Street seeking larger space. The Selby office was described as small and the move provides the needed room.
