At Columbus Aug 27 the Democratic state convention with Johnson’s faction in control named a full ticket led by TOM L. JOHNSON for governor and JOHN H. CLARKE for the United States Senate after debates and minor opposition. Acclamation followed for the ticket as Johnson urged unity and loyalty while outlining home rule taxation and party cooperation.

Bick List Charlie Smith son of Mr and Mrs C W Smith of North Tenth Street is afflicted with typhoid fever.

E B McClellan of Smith and McClellan Uhrichsville amusement firm leads a Coshocton park plan. He envisions two miles down the Muskingum at the old Brown place with a hotel in the mansion, a beach, a merry go round, dancing pavilion, and a two-deck steamer carrying 500 passengers between city landing and the park. The project aims for next summer with local capital ready to invest.
Near New Haven last night the steamship H M Whitney bound from New York to Boston ran down and sank the schooner John Booth. The captain and one sailor were rescued. five crew members and one passenger drowned.
