District President T D Nicholls of the United Mine Workers says the principal deadlock on the conciliation board is over the employer right to discharge for any reason other than union membership. The Rockmen’s union seeks a share of the award and a blacklist issue is also in dispute along with Coxe Brothers’ Hazleton agreement breach after a lockout ended.
At least two hundred attended the reunion of Company K, 22nd regiment O. V. I. at Tonawanda on Saturday. Host and hostess Mrs. E. K. Lybarger welcomed guests for a day of speaking, recitations, and music after a hearty dinner. Capt. E. W. James, Coshocton, led the program with remarks on Civil War results, joined by Capt. J. M. Compton, George Cooper, Col. Pren Metham, Capt. E. Z. Hayes, and Gen. B. L. Lybarger. Coshocton ladies arrived in a carry-all.
The Coshocton County Teacher's Institute opened this afternoon under President W. A. McCurdy in charge. Teachers arrived from across the county and attendance is expected to be the largest yet with sessions deemed highly interesting. The Age will report daily updates through a special correspondent.
Telegraph report from San Francisco dated August 17 describes the Grand Army of the Republic reunion encampment opening as General Thomas J. Stewart arrives with 365 Pennsylvania post members. Notables include General Nelson A. Miles and General John C. Black. The registration and information booths are busy and organizers expect 50 000 visitors by the parade day.
Tom Fetch drives the Packard "The Pacific" from the Pacific to the Atlantic with wheels in the water at both oceans. The Ohio built car departs from Warren and is due in New York by August 13 before a Warren homecoming celebration. Estimated trip cost six thousand dollars plus machine cost.

Gunfire continued until 2 a.m. as barricaded boarding houses sheltered nonunion workers. police failed to quell the riot and warnings of fresh outbreaks persisted.
Franklin township voted on local option and rejected drinking by an overwhelming 255 to 18, confirming it remains a dry precinct after agitation linked to Conesville. The petition gathered 84 names, surprising both sides, with temperance supporters praising the result as leading Coshocton county.
A seventeen year old girl named Mabel Marbel from East Liverpool is lured away by a charming young man with money after meeting him at a Keystone Carnival company. They stay at a Brower building lodging house run by Mrs. Mapes. A card shark game collapses and the man is jailed, leaving Mabel distressed and longing for home. A second suitor then takes her away, and the man who enticed her to Coshocton visits the owner after she leaves, with her fate unclear.
