A section of the Morrison street bridge collapsed sending more than a hundred people into the Willamette River as crowds watched Clarence Lutz complete a swim. Drowning were Minnie Raymond and Lottie Cameron with an unidentified boy, twenty five injured. Rescue boats and launches recovered swimmers while ambulances, fire units, and police rushed aid. The old wooden bridge, built sixteen years ago, had long been deemed unsafe.
