Death of Miss Kate McElfresh at Farmland Indiana
Miss Kate McElfresh a teacher at New Albany Business College died Thursday night in a sanitarium at Farmland Indiana from consumption. Aged twenty eight her body will be taken to Elizabeth Harrison county for interment. She came to New Albany six years ago to attend the college later teaching there until health failed. Survived by her mother and a sister in East Elm street.

Senator Gwin Dies in New Albany at 67
Josiah Gwin editor and senator of Floyd and Harrison counties died at his Silver Hills home on Wednesday morning September 11 after cancer of the stomach. He was sixty seven years old. Survived by a wife two sons Floyd and Frank and a daughter Mrs Emily Corbee of Terre Haute. Born January 28 1834 in Lanesville he moved to New Albany in 1842. He served two terms as Floyd county recorder.
