Tobacco and Corn Show at Old Capital Bank
The Old Capital Bank and Trust Co staged a tobacco and corn show last Saturday with 84 tobacco entries and 52 corn entries. Prizes totaled 10 dollars for first in tobacco and 5 and 2.50 for second and third. corn prizes ranged from 5 dollars to 1 dollar, with additional awards for top white and yellow corn. Judge Col. Janes C. Stone awarded honors and delivered an afternoon address at the Court House.

Mrs Isaac Simpson formerly Mary Rector died Oct 20 1928 at Palmyra aged 63. Born Oct 4 1860, she married Isaac Simpson Apr 15 1896, joined the Christian church in 1917, and was noted as a dutiful daughter sister wife and mother to the motherless. She leaves a husband a brother a step family and many neighbors. The service was conducted by Rev Scott at the Church of Christ in Palmyra on Oct 22.

Drowning of Maud Doll Loose and Daughter Clara
Lee McMonigie reports a flood tragedy in Oklahoma City on October 15. Maud Doll Loose and her daughter Clara drowned. their bodies were found October 19 and buried October 22. Maud’s husband Charles C. Doll and another daughter Bessie were rescued, while he remains in serious condition in hospital.

Train Kills Mule Team After School Dropoff
Mr. Frank Miller delivering school children to New Salisbury was struck by passenger train No. 24 on October 24. One mule died instantly and another was fatally injured. Miller survived but suffered severe injuries and blindness ending with hospitalization.
