A Good Man Gone Bruner Dies At 66 In Luther's Chapel
John J. W. Bruner died December 12 from kidney trouble aged 66. Born in Baden Germany July 20 1835 he emigrated to the United States in 1853. He leaves a wife one daughter and seven grandchildren. Bruner served as Scott township trustee and was once a candidate for county commissioner. A large funeral crowd gathered as Rev H St Stern preached a tribute to his life of kindness and honesty.

Death of Mrs Green in Posey Township

Wreck on the Southern at Georgetown Claims Lives and Damages
A disastrous wreck on the Southern at Georgetown last Thursday left one man dead and three seriously hurt as fifteen freight cars burned after a powder car exploded. Two west bound trains collided near the junction when orders to side track expired. A 16 year old boy from New Albany died two days later. The blame fell on the flagman for failing to flag the rear train in time. A temporary track was laid to reroute traffic.

Reunion of the 53rd Indiana Veterans Held at Rockport
The 53rd Indiana volunteers held their seventh annual reunion in Rockport on October 4 5. Capt John W Marshall was elected president for the seventh time Col George Pennington vice president William Jenner secretary treasurer and James Engleman chaplain. The next meeting is planned for New Albany. An advertisement for Wilson Air Tight Heaters and other stoves follows listing buyers and prices and urging purchase. Heaters range from 2 50 up with steel ranges from 25 and drum stoves offered.
