Corydon High School Holds Forty-Second Commencement

Corydon High School celebrated its Forty-Second Annual Commencement on May 17 in the grade-school auditorium with Asa J. Smith as speaker. The Alumni Banquet followed May 16 with 200 attendees including 31 graduates, and a program featuring Farce Speaking to Father, humor, and an alumni orchestra.

Oscar Huffman Dies Suddenly in Hardinsburg

Oscar Huffman of New Albany died suddenly last Friday morning near Hardinsburg while en route as a candy salesman. His car stalled. he died shortly after arriving at a rock quarry and being unable to start again. Funeral services were held Sunday at New Albany with burial in Fairview Cemetery. He leaves a wife, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Levi Huffman, and other relatives.

Elizabeth High School Commencement Held in M E Hall

The Elizabeth High School commencement on May 11 celebrated seven high school graduates and 33 eighth grade graduates from Elizabeth and Posey township. Lew M. Birthday Surprise Roars In For Mrs Case In New Albany

On May 14 a group of about twenty friends raided the Case home in New Albany to celebrate Mrs Maggie Case's birthday. Former Harrison county residents, the couple hosted a large feast and joyful social gathering. Mrs Case, born Maggie Glasgow, is the sister of Mrs John Walters of Corydon. Joe Case grew up in Taylor township.

James William Bishop infant son of Mr and Mrs James Bishop of Boone Township died Thursday aged two weeks. Burial was at Rogers Camp Ground last Friday.

Death of Aged Woman in Corydon Indiana

Rachel M. Rickard born December 10 1842 near Valley City Indiana died May 19 1922 at her Corydon home aged eighty years five months nine days. She married David W. Baxley April 7 1859 and had ten children. he died 1908. She remarried Henry H. Wise and survived by eight children. Surviving children include Mrs Oda Watson Mrs Edward Cunningham Lee Binsford Dee Baxley Mrs Tom Wolf Mrs Chas Lockhart and Edward of Bradshaw Neb. eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren plus siblings. Funeral at U B Church Corydon conducted by Bro J H Toombs and Bro J H Heth at 2 pm burial in Jordan cemetery. Music by local quartet. Contributed.

First New Industry Comes to Corydon for Gas Fueled Lime Mill

The Corydon area welcomes a lime factory to be built west of town on 15 acres leased from the McGrain farm. The limestone hill will supply lime burned in kilns with natural gas as fuel. Up to fifty workers are expected to be hired soon.

Nellie Beach adopted daughter of Mr and Mrs Benjamin Secrest born July 24 1906 died May 17 1922 near Idaville Indiana at age fifteen years two months and twenty three days Her body brought to New Albany and buried in Fairview Cemetery She leaves two brothers Walter and Roy and many relatives in grief The verse laments her passing and faith.

Fish Fry At Mauck Port Draws Local Crowd

About thirty five residents joined a fish fry at Mauck Port hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Ben Yeager. A group went fishing Saturday afternoon and returned in the early hours with enough fish for the gathering. Roughly forty pounds were served alongside salads and strawberry shortcake on a perfect day.
