Huge crowd gathers in Corydon Harrison county to mark gas delivery from Tobacco Landing to town. US figures include Indianapolis Mayor Lew Shank and stockholders from Pittsburg Philadelphia St. Louis and Milwaukee. Free noon meals featured beef mutton and coffee. Barbecue Grounds Draw Large Crowd at Local Event
A iron grill five feet wide and four feet high roasted meat as crowds visited the grounds in large numbers. Marshall Higdon built a reputation for barbecue meat, drawing many callers. Automobiles arrived from the East to see the spectacle, with about 5000 attendees heard on the decorated track. Lew M. Bannon led the event and introduced the Mayor, then presented Mrs. Shank to the audience as the Democratic half of the Shank family.

Frank Onion Drowns in Boone Pond
Frank Onion seventeen year old son of Mrs Myrtle Onion of near New Middletown drowned yesterday at noon in a pond on Julius Johns farm in Boone township. He and Johns' son swam during noon break when Onion cramps and was unable to float. Johns attempted rescue but failed. He had completed his third year at Elizabeth High School.
