The R L Dollings Company of Ohio and its subsidiary International Note and Mortgage Company were placed in tripartite receivership by Judge Robert P. Duncan after stockholders petitioned for receivership. Fifteen more stockholders joined the original thirteen, citing large stock sales to about 80 000 people and management for stock gains rather than shareholder benefit. Receiver appointments include William Willard Paul A. DeLong and Sammel A. Kinnear.

A severe lightning storm struck Corydon between five and six last Monday, striking the chimney at Mrs. Geo H Mathes on Oak Street. Bricks flew toward L C Keller’s home, but only soot ignited and heavy rain quenched any fire. Mr. and Mrs. Colwell Frakes and two children were shocked but unharmed. their daughter Alice fell during a doorway closing. Firemen stood by as neighbors paused work.

Charles Mettling, son of Henry and Mrs. Mettling of Lewis Kansas, was killed after being struck by a train near a Louisville depot last Monday night. He resided in Taylor township and leaves a wife and three children. He had worked for a railway company at the depot. The death occurred shortly after he was found in a dying condition.

The Corydon Methodist Sunday School annual picnic last Thursday drew a large turnout to White Cloud on Blue River. Cars shuttled attendees from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, with Frank Cropsey coordinating transport. The day featured swimming, tug of war, and a lavish feast, described as a “gorgeous” spread by the women, followed by a reflective close as attendees returned home pleased with wholesome fellowship.
