The new township reform law requires all township trustees to present annual receipts and expenditures to Advisory Boards on Tuesday January 7 1902. Copies must be filed with the County Auditor for approval within ten days and, once approved, the reports must be published in two county newspapers for one insertion.

The Board of Commissioners met last Friday and Saturday to close the year. Claims were allowed on Friday and the stationery contract for 1902 was let on Saturday with three bidders. Sentinel Printing Company and Levy Bros. Co. of Indianapolis won first and second class bids about 1200 total, while Thomas & Ellis won third class at 345. Commissioner Michael Gleitz retired after three years. friends gifted him rockine chairs in farewell.

In Washington township last Friday night a festive surprise honored Uncle James Simler’s family. Neighbors and friends enjoyed Uncle Jim’s hospitality with luxuries, James Roby distributed candy, David Simler led the group, and the Love band provided music.

Kopp daughter of Mr and Mrs George Kopp at Pleasant Ridge on Christmas night Rev Mills officiating Shelby Kopp and Rosa A Wiseman served as bridesmaids. A serenade followed and guests joined a cake and cigars celebration. The couple and guests later shared a dinner at the groom’s home with gifts noted. Miss Zadie Rowe of New Albany played the wedding march with Edward Sharp as a waiter.
A Christmas day reunion of the Hobbs and Breese families at Hobbs residence near Elizabeth featured a well laden tree with nearly a hundred presents for guests. A bountiful Christmas dinner followed as attendees plus Mary Hobbs Ada Harmon Noble Engleman Iola Crandall and Harmon family members enjoyed the holiday gathering.

Baxley wed at the groom's home on Wednesday evening December 25 1901 in a small ceremony attended by parents relatives and closest friends Rev J D Jeffery officiated and presented a marriage license certificate as a gift pineapple sherbet and cake were served to celebrate the couple received several presents including the license certificate.
