Democrats gathered at the court house to appoint delegates and alternates for the district convention in New Albany. Amos Lemmon was elected president and Emery Breeden secretary at the January 2 meeting. L. M. O'Bannon spoke as delegates selected to attend.
Robert Gaddis Sr of A Bartholomew County Indiana was notified of the death of his son Hoert Gaddis Jr who died December 189 in Manila Philippines. He ran away in 1896 to New Salisbury worked for Gibson Knight store as Harry Reno and later joined the regular army in Louisville. He served with Troop K Fourth Cavalry and died two months after promotion to sergeant in October 1899. A letter from Troop K captain at Jefferson Barracks Missouri reached his father yesterday. The above named worked for John Wunener of New Salisbury under the alias Meno.

Jesse S. Watson aged 76 died of pneumonia at his son's home in Demhsamota Nebraska after living in the county all his life. He lived five miles south of Corydon and was well known locally.

The frame house on J. W. McKinster’s farm near Corydon burned around 11 PM last Tuesday. Newton Byerly, the occupant, lost almost all household goods and much clothing. children escaped barefoot in the cold. The house, insured for 400 dollars, left the family in need.
