Wife Beater Larue Sentenced in Indiana Court
Wendall B. Larue twenty one year old telegraph operator and one of Indiana’s best known, received two to fourteen years at the Indiana Reformatory Jeffersonville for assault and battery with intent to murder his young wife. He was sentenced at Warsaw and worked at a railroad tower in Princeton. He allegedly burned her with a red hot poker after their marriage. Mrs. Larue, an attractive young woman from a prominent wealthy Jewish family, was noted in the case.
