Evans born September 11 1836 in Harrison County Indiana died April 9 1923 at age 86 He married Martha A McRae November 26 1870 He served in Co A 12th Indiana beginning in 1861 Funeral at the New Middletown residence April 11 led by Rev W D Rosenbarger Burial in Sharon cemetery Survivors include son Francis A Evans and Myrtle B Evans granddaughter Mary Margaret Evans sister Mary C Winn brothers Enoch W Evans Lemuel I Evans and many relatives A large sale list accompanies the notice detailing farm implements and equipment to be sold at Mrs Alice Knight s sale on the pike between Corydon and New Middletown on Thursday April 26.
A large group of neighbors and friends gathered Sunday noon to honor Mr and Mrs Andy Ehalt who are selling their home and moving to New Albany this week. A long table feast fed the guests. Frank Daugherty born September 16 1896 died April 13 1923 aged 26 years 6 months 27 days He was the third child of John W and Mary Daugherty Survived by three brothers John Clarence George a sister Annie and a grieving mother He joins his father and infant siblings Harry Bela in the afterlife The U B church at Potato Run conducted by Rev Jesse O Breeden laid to rest in the church cemetery
The wife and children of Ira Amy who died April 7 in Washington township thank neighbors and friends for kindnesses shown during his illness death and burial.
Miss Catherine Margaret Ackerman aged sixty six died suddenly during the night at her home in Taylor township. Her sister Mary found her dead Sunday morning after sleeping in the same room. Burial followed at Buena Vista church with Father George Schenk officiating. Survived by sisters Mary Ackerman Eva Ackerman and Mrs Henry Hornickel of Louisville. Also sells White Pekin duck eggs at 50 cents a setting of twelve in notice.
Harrison County plans a five day club camp August 6 to 10 for members of county agricultural and home economics clubs. Visitors may attend one day. programs include Purdue specialists, health, nutrition, plant study, and youth development activities with daily demonstrations and evening camp fires.

Silas Bringle of New Salisbury died Friday April 13 after a long illness from stomach cancer. He was 72 and survived by his wife and two children. He served as the county’s first Assessor, appointed in 1892, and later elected for another term. Funeral services were held at New Salisbury Methodist Church, with many attending, burial at Bethlehem graveyard. Also announced is Alice Knight sale near Corydon and New Middletown on April 26 featuring mules cattle cows sows and hogs, with four percent cash discount over $3 and lunch provided. Ira Amy born October 4 1850 died April 7 1923 at his home aged seventy two years six months and three days. He married Harriet A Jones September 12 1875 and they had twelve children seven of whom are named and survive him along with six brothers two sisters thirty three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He never joined a church but studied the Bible and supported church work. he lived most of his life in his birth community, with short times in Texas and visits elsewhere. His wife and family mourn his loss and friends recall him as a dependable true American.
FORMER RESIDENT DIES. Mrs. Sarah E. McBride, widow of Thomas McBride, died at her Paoli home on March 31 at age 74. She was raised in the county as daughter of James and Susan Mayo Hutslar and survived by five children.

J Hudson of Corydon and Jos Scott of New Albany led a party in a Big Six Studebaker touring car to French Lick last Friday. The Harrison Post American Legion hosted a Baby Show before Peck’s Bad Boy. Winners were selected by crowd applause across three age groups. prizes were 4 dozen photos from Jordan Studio for each class. Grand prize went to Little Miss Wright for five dollars. Bobbie Miller won the Jackie Coogan contest.
A cat at the home of Ex Trustee John Meurer in Franklin township killed three of four newborn kittens. The mother then sought to replace her losses and brought home three young squirrels and mothered them in her nest.
Peter A. Eyton of Elizabeth was a pleasant caller at this office in Corydon yesterday. Mr. Burton and his wife with his brother T. W. Burton and wife spent the winter in Florida. Burton and W. D. Barnes of the Elizabeth Bank plan to enter real estate ventures.

The High School Field Meet scheduled for last Saturday at the Fair Ground was rained out and moved to Friday April 20 starting at 9 15 A M. A full program of athletic events will be held and a large crowd is expected if weather allows. Also listed for sale are a DeLaval cream separator hay and other items at Mrs T W Knight’s house southeast of Corydon on the Elizabeth Pike with sale set for Thursday April 26.
A Sunday April 8 1923 celebration honored Mrs Arthur Brown on her 36th anniversary with a large morning gathering. Relatives and friends filled a long table with abundant food while attendees laughed and shared stories led by Alonzo Brown and Chas Greer. A second note mentions a local auction by John Wolfe on April 26 with various household items offered.
Miss Carrie Lohmeyer and Mr Grover Brooks wed at high noon Sunday in Heth township at the bride’s mother home. Rev Cornwall officiated in front of relatives. The groom, from Ft Wayne, will reside with the bride’s mother after the ceremony. A kitchen shower followed on Monday night with many friends attending.

Roy Evans mounted the body. W C Glenn painted the hearse. they will keep horse equipment for vehicleless routes. Mr Swarens has sixteen years in embalming with special courses. They run a weekly advertisement in the Democrat.
