Dr Edward Leigh Pell of Richmond Virginia spent April 3 and 4 in Corydon delivering four meetings at the Methodist church and School auditorium. His lectures on Our Love Affairs and The Forgotten Picture of Christ attracted large crowds and earned praise for clear thinking and strong spiritual insight. Pell travels from St Louis to Asheville and beyond while planning further engagements and writing religious books.

Harrison County Fair Association cancels the 4th of July Race Meeting after a Farmers Organization claimed the date from a prior announcement. Officials state the clash was unknown at the time of the vote and acknowledge the embarrassment, with the decision final.

Fire at Bridgeport Destroys Homes and Outbuildings

Fire at Bridgeport yesterday afternoon destroyed the residences of Capt. Villiar and Ed Farnsley along with nearby barns. Roofs were fully engulfed at first discovery, many responded to aid, some furnishings saved. No cause or insurance details learned. Funeral attendees from Louisville included Mrs. Bauman and Miss Catherine Davis.

Stolen Oldsmobile Tied to Ohio License No. 287930

Sheriff Morris reports a five passenger Oldsmobile abandoned near William Evans in Boone township, likely stolen. The car appeared at L A Reasor’s residence with fuel and a dash to escape. three men fled on foot toward Kentucky after a failed attempt to pay for gas. They crossed the Ohio River at New Boston, with authorities unsure of the owner.

Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Eury and Mrs. Charles Jenson of Louisville visited this office in town after attending the funeral of their neighbor Harry Davis yesterday. Mr. Eury is boiler department manager at Henry Vogt Machine Company in Louisville.

Ira Amy Dies After Long Illness In Heth Township

Ira Amy prominent farmer in Heth township died last Saturday at 1 p m after a long illness caused by a foot bruise from years ago. Cancer and later gangrene on the injured foot hastened his death. Born October 4, 1850 he was seventy two years six months and three days old. Survived by a devoted wife Harriet Purcell twelve children and many grandchildren great grandchildren and surviving siblings. Funeral arrangements will be made with family members attending from multiple states.
