United Press reports in Pittsburgh that a fraud probe found 100 ballots marred with two lead pencils in the sixth district of the fifth ward during a primary. Two children were seriously hurt and six others lightly wounded when a tornado tore the roof off the new Richmond High School building in Indiana. The twister struck before classes began, trapping students as wreckage cluttered classrooms and upper floors. Rescue teams searched debris for possible victims.

Four gunmen terrorized ten employees at the Pies State Bank of Westmont in Westmont Illinois slugging a clerk with a pistol butt and fleeing with about $19,000 from the cashier’s cage and vault. A clerk who attempted to comply was struck on the head as the robbers entered the lobby. Detective John Hinley returned home to Meadville after a brief visit here.

Memphis physician Dr. J C Cash King was stabbed just below the heart in a dispute at his office.
