Gas Workmen Strike Water Main Break Halts City Water
Water department crews and city officials faced a six inch cast iron main break after a gas line was driven beneath a street. Firemen, pumpers, and hydraulic equipment worked four hours to locate and seal the leak before citywide water was shut down and then partially restored. Mayor C M Sonm ordered a halt and urged institutions to store water.
