Seventeen injured survivors were airlifted by two Royal Air Force helicopters from the Swiss rescue ship Celerina off the Irish coast. The ill fated Flying Tigerliner Constellatori crash left 76 aboard with 12 bodies recovered. The Bonaventure carrier carries four survivors toward Shannon estuary as U S Army Europe sends aid.

The measure centers on a large credit for modernization and tax favored competition abroad, with revenue implications of up to 240 million annually. MAVANA AP Chiban propaganda lists hailed today Fidel Castro's pact with the Soviet Union calling for building a fishing port for Russian trawlers in Havana Bay. Castro announced the pact that the Russians would seek credits for large docking and freezing facilities. He said Soviet fleet would use the facilities for at least 10 years. Castro said the port would be headquarters for a Joint Cuban Soviet Atlantic fishing fleet.
U.S. defense sources say a Cuba port built with Soviet help may camouflage a naval base capable of servicing submarines and torpedo boats and threatening the Panama Canal. Fidel Castro announced the plans on television. Havana reports Soviet crews would train Cuban crews to operate the facilities and vessels.
State Police issued an alert for a 30 year old man who threatened the life of Mrs. Anna Myrtle Duncan of R D 2 Titusville early yesterday morning at her home. He fled the scene after demanding money and is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall with a stocky build, light complexion, dark suit and shoes, and dark brown hair. Mrs. Duncan was not harmed.
The Journal notes a statewide Baptist convention selecting ten leaders and officers. It lists pastors from Jersey ShoreWelphiny Grove City Lock Haven Edinboro and other towns, with Rev Wilen Wasnamett as chairman and Rev Fleming as treasurer among attendees and visiting pastors from out of town.
James Meredith returned to the University of Mississippi campus as police and highway patrol blocked access and Governor Ross Barnett moved to Jackson. Meredith’s third bid to register faced defiance of federal orders while court rulings urged compliance. Federal troops were discussed to enforce desegregation in Mississippi, amid ongoing legal actions.
Reed's Steak House near Corry on Route 6 has been approved for sale to Jamies Gamrie and Mrs. Reed. The new owners plan a Jimyose Steak Hots operation with Gamrie bringing extensive food service experience from clubs in New York and Jamestown area venues.
