Only 2 cities and 32 southern central communities will revert to standard time on the last Sunday of September. The Chamber of Commerce survey listed 464 municipalities in favor of staying on fast time until Oct. 20, with the exception areas citing earlier dawn bus trips for schoolchildren as the reason to shift back. Delaware will stay on last time zone.

A 29 year old mother, Mrs. Tmavene Craig, allegedly stabbed her 2 year old son Thomas Craig IV and her two daughters after returning home from a suburban park, then attempted suicide. Police say the boy died, the daughters were wounded, and Mrs. Craig was found nearby with a chest wound. The scene occurred near her Pittsfield home as firemen discovered her in a suicide attempt.
