Across the United States seniors are using discount programs to save on essentials. Ohio’s Golden Buckeye Card began in 1976 and has 517,465 applicants with 17,170 merchants. Nationally, AARP offers hotel, car rental and pharmacy discounts to members 85 and older.

Harvey D. Smith of Cambridge Springs was charged with drunken driving after crashing into a utility pole on Route 8 near Titusville, injuring three others mildly. He was arraigned, bond set at 1009 dollars, and released after hospital treatment. Route 8 reopened after debris cleared. passenger Steve Parker of Centreville remained in satisfactory condition at Titusville Hospital.
