Sharp Polio Decline Reported in Pennsylvania
Associated Press reports a sharp drop in infantile paralysis cases across Pennsylvania, with fewer than 50 cases this week versus 65 last week and 83 the week before. Dr J Moore Campbell says the decline is encouraging and may indicate the outbreak peak has passed, though September typically sees many cases. The disease has killed 26 people and spread to 45 of the state's 67 counties, Perry and Clinton among the latest.
