Erie County Plastics Co. purchased the Howard Tannery on East Main Street extension, adding 32 000 square feet and bringing total space to 82 000. The move will relocate manufacturing and warehouse operations and add about 20 workers as demand grows.
Jamestown officials investigated a plaster ceiling collapse at Lincoln Junior High School's auditorium late Wednesday night. No one was injured as the ceiling fell after about 450 teachers left an auditorium meeting, damaging seats with dust and debris. Superintendent Dr. Harold O'Neal said the entire ceiling must be replaced and found no water damage. The structure had been dry and last inspected two years ago during lighting upgrades.

Marines repelled a Viet Cong human wave assault southwest of Da Nang in darkness. The 56 enemy dead included many teens. Marine casualties were moderate with one squad badly hit. Other Viet Cong actions hit Pleime camp and the Mekong Delta with limited attacks, while Da Nang airbase faced helicopter damage.
Two Kane men who disappeared during a 2700 mile stroll nine days ago resurfaced in California. Larry Wagner 24 telephoned a friend who alerted State Police to confirm they walked into the swamp area and then vanished. Charles Meals 28 remained with Wagner in Oxnard where police learned Wagner sought a theft warrant in Kane.

A car struck Wesley Small, 15, of Canonsburg as he walked along Route 19 near here last night, killing him. Authorities investigated the fatal accident.
