Justice Dept to settle race track dispute over stock
The Justice Department plans to file in Commonwealth Court this week to forfeit 80,000 Shamrock Racing Association shares and sell them at public sale. The state says Henry Lark, former Republican chairman of Northumberland County, owned the stock in violation of law. The case echoes a 1974 agreement with Lark. 14,000 shares are sealed in the racing commission’s safe, 11,000 missing, 5,000 possibly tied to Anna Jean Durkin. The stock’s value is uncertain, once 31 a share.
