No state funds for school war purchases
Harrisburg report states the Commonwealth has no money to buy surplus federal property valued at about 8 million dollars for schools. Superintendent Dr Francis S Haas says funds were not provided by the General Assembly for a special state effort to secure surplus equipment and distribute it to districts. He notes the department will seek a method to represent many schools before federal disposals and that the equipment falls into four categories including excess material donateable to schools.
