Erie today is the final day for owners of 122 machines seized September 13 in a county raid to file objections to District Attorney Herbert J Johnson Jr s petition to destroy the machines. Owners of 50 machines taken from a barn in Greene Township on September 29 have until November 5 to object. If no objections are filed the destruction will proceed. if objections are filed, hearings will be scheduled. The devices named Red Arrow Flash Back Wild Buck Shawnee Trail Blazer Koree Wild Cat Too Buckaroo Skeet Shoot were ruled gambling devices by Cumberland County Court in July 1961 and the ruling upheld by the Pennsylvania Superior Court in December 1961. a four month window to appeal to the State Supreme Court was not used. Destruction requires court approval and proceeds under sheriff and DA oversight, with recovered money going to the county treasurer. Testimony from Dr Daniel P Detwiler of Wilkes College aided the court rulings.
