Deb or ah Bachofner 13 and Gerry Dahl 7 were struck within hours in Meadville Corry area accidents as drivers said they saw children but could not avoid impact. Bachofner suffered head cuts and bruises. Dahl had forehead and hand abrasions and a scalp wound. Both were in satisfactory condition. no charges filed.

A head-on collision on a rural road north of here killed three adults and an unborn baby. Victims were Frank M. Titchener and his wife, both in their sixties from Geneva, and Mrs. Lewis Robinson of Phelps who was pregnant. Mrs. Robinson died at Geneva Hospital after doctors delivered the baby. the coroner ruled the baby's death due to the accident.

AP report: Anthony Gallico, 52, driven after stop sign by patrolmen Paull Marches and William Schrock collapsed while producing his license and died, apparently of a heart attack. In Greensburg, an auto left Route 130 in Unity Township and overturned, killing passenger Paul R Purin, 14.
Republican William W. Scranton returns to Philadelphia then heads to Scranton to address Republican women and a fundraising dinner with Henry Cabot Lodge. Democratic rival Richardson Dilworth again challenges for a face to face television debate, threatening to debate an empty chair if Scranton refuses.
Authorities across Pennsylvania and New York chase a white male 17 to 23, about 6 feet tall, 145 pounds, with blond hair. The suspect, armed with a knife, slashed a 29 year old woman on July 20 at West Plaza Erie, left her to die on a rural road. A $51,000 reward is offered. Police warn not to detain anyone based on description.
