Zenge Found Guilty and Given Life Sentence
Zenge, a 26 year old Missouri farm youth, was found guilty of murdering Dr. Walter J. Bauer, a mid aged professor and former childhood sweetheart. The jury deliberated four and a half hours before sentencing him to life imprisonment with parole eligibility after 20 years. Counterfeiters Are Removed to Prison at Lewisburg
Eight men were sent to Northeastern Federal Penitentiary in Lewisburg Pa to begin sentences from one year and a day to five years. The heaviest term was five years for Pippino Garbo for passing counterfeit money in North Carolina and other states. Included were Kenneth J Piatt and Leroy Piatt a father and son of Columbus Ohio who received one year. They pleaded guilty to passing thousands of counterfeit half dollars across Ohio Kentucky West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Slum clearance projects to be started nationwide
The Public Works Housing Administration launched its $143 million slum clearance and low rent housing program, inviting bids on 21 projects while 38 developments had already drawn bids totaling about $90.3 million.
