Cadet Paul Hameria of Titusville Pennsylvania survived injuries from a crash near Smith Field Virginia that killed Cadet Frank William Brendie of Dallas Texas. Both were in the 20th Bombardment Squadron based at Langley Field.

A head on collision on the Millersburg Limburg highway killed Miss Dorothy Dalton 21, and Frances Bader 24, both of Harrisburg, and Millerburg jeweler William Mumma 36. Jozephine Shoap 22, Harrisburg, driver of the car with the two girls, died later from a possible skull fracture. Rudolph Bressler 36, Millersburg, drove the other car. Mumma and Carlos Border 30 were passengers. State patrol said Shoap attempted to pass a farm wagon, and both cars went through a guard rail, plunging down an embankment.
Philadelphia police raided a plant observed by residents and seized 22 drums of illicit alcohol. Francis Brennan, 29, was arrested driving a truck at the site and held on a $3,000 bond as the probe linked to a $75,000 bootlegging operation.
