Tax Collector Granted Week To Pay County Shortage
Erie officials extended Heath Wesleyville the deadline by one week to make good the 1941 county tax deficit of about 225 dollars. The extension came after a conference with commissioners and district attorney Burton Leu, as bondsmen proposed installment payments due to executors of estates and other creditors being away from the city. The court also stayed arrest for the time being to avoid obstructing collection actions, while Heath offered to settle through installments and use roughly 1,000 dollars from WesJeyville school closings to cover dues.
