Anniversary of Free City Mail Delivery Observed

Yesterday October first marked the twenty fifth anniversary of free city mail delivery. George W. Marks, the sole remaining original carrier, celebrated by his routine rounds. Known as the veteran, he bears three red stars on his uniform and nears eligibility for a fourth. He has served the Fourth ward loyally, earning respect as a dependable, community minded citizen.

Special train tour through Erie area with executives aboard

A five coach Erie Railroad special train passed through the city at 45 o'clock this morning. Reported aboard were President Underwood, the general manager, and other railroad officials plus division officers. The inspection focused on the Corry to Meadville line and the Pennsylvania west of town, including Brio crossovers and related work.

Collarbone Injury At Fairview School During Recess

Dorothy Powers eleven year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Cap Yoworo was hurt at Fairview School recess when a swing incident caused a coltman to fall, striking her chest and shoulder. Dr G B Bennett attended her. she seemed to be improving by afternoon.

Aviator Killed Near New York

Hempstead October 2 an aviator named William Piel was killed this afternoon when his bi plane failed at about two hundred feet. He pitched to the earth and died on impact his body crushed beyond recognition.

Milk prices to stay strong at Mohawk Condensery

The Mohawk Milk Condensery of Wile City announced October payments of 1.75 dollars per hundred for milk with a premium for tests above 2.8. Dairymen expect heavy demand and possible record high prices this season. A time of rising prices through November is anticipated. Farmers delivering milk will be paid by weight per hundred rather than three dollars per trip.

City High School football season opener set tomorrow

The City League Park grounds are being prepared for tomorrow's football game. Local High School, coached by Carl Taylor, has practiced faithfully and shows excellent development. A good crowd is expected as the team remains in good trim and retains its former standing.
