Brutal rape attack shocks Corry neighborhood

Weekend spate of crashes burglary engages state police

State police investigated four incidents over the weekend including a cruise near the Crotty-Ferrando car agency in Columbus where Daniel J. Niver 21 of Bradford fell asleep at 4 a.m. driving west on Route 6 and struck a parked car. A second collision occurred in Columbus Township at 2:50 p.m. with John Burge 26 of Columbus and Kelly R. Bounds 16 of Hare Creek Mobile Home Court. A deer was struck by George Woodley of Union City on Route near Titusville at 9 p.m. and the deer was killed. Burglars stole 600 dollars in cigars candy and other items from the Auto Drive-In five miles north of Titusville. A minor accident on Old Route 8 north of Titusville involved David White and James Keyes with moderate damage and no injuries.

Blue Shield Probes Cheating Docs in Pennsylvania

CAMP HILL PA AP Pennsylvania Blue Shield is checking bills of about 800 doctors to identify unnecessary services or fraudulent claims. The program covers 2000 participating physicians dentists and podiatrists and includes Medicare and Medicaid. Since reviews began, 19 doctors 9 osteopaths and 2 other providers have been convicted of fraud with 11 more cases pending.

Wattsburg Man Faces Two Charges in Westfield Incident

A 19 year old Wattsburg man, Mark A. Wroblewski, is charged with first degree reckless endangerment for allegedly pointing a shotgun at Steve Shoff and running over his legs with a car on October 29 in Westfield. Shoff received hospital care and was later moved to Brooks Memorial Hospital. Wroblewski waived extradition and appeared in Ripley Town Court before Westfield proceedings.

Four Youngsters Hit By Cars In Jamestown Mishaps

JAMESTOWN N Y Two Jamestown children were listed in satisfactory condition and a third in fair condition after a trio of siblings was struck by a car Friday at 514 p m A WCA Hospital spokesman said Joan Hudson 8 of Jamestown was in fair condition with a fractured leg and possible internal injuries The two Hudson children in satisfactory condition were Fontaine 10 with facial injuries and Lawrence 8 with a concussion Police said the children were struck by a car driven by Clifford Keith 47 of Fredonia He was charged with driving with a restricted license The children were crossing a street In a separate incident Markett W Harrison 18 of Wilcox Pa was released on 30 bail after being charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian Jody Root 19 of Jamestown was crossing a crosswalk area when the Harrison vehicle struck her while turning Left A WCA Hospital spokesman said Root was released after treatment for a mild knee contusion The accident occurred at 935 p m Friday The suspect is to appear in Jamestown City Court today

Police Handle Several Minor Incidents Here

Police here handled multiple minor incidents over the weekend along with a serious assault case Saturday. A two-vehicle crash at Worth and Duane streets injured no one. Adeline Rowland, 39, and Gertrude Higby, 83, were involved. Reckless driving charges followed a Friday single-vehicle crash on East Main Street. Two hit and run cases were reported on parked cars, one at Route 6 Plaza and another on East Main near Center. A plate glass window at Ike's Billiards was damaged. Officers aided in serving a warrant for unpaid fines and Wynn was cited for failing to pay game law fines from December 1975.

130 Killed In Jetliner Crash In Madeira

Survivors say the Boeing 727 from Brussels to Lisbon landed too far down the runway and attempted takeoff before plunging 200 feet down an embankment and bursting into flames.
