A one car crash on a slick East Main Street left 16 year old Drew A Yenchak of K D 2 Gamma Road with knee and face abrasions and a eyelid laceration after he swerved to avoid a manhole cover and hit a tree near the Erie County Plastics plant. Beir ut report states Libyan leader Muammar Khadafy ordered severing ties with Egypt over President Anwar Sadat s planned trip to Israel. Ambassadors were summoned as Libya denounced the Egyptian regime and recalled Libyans in Egypt. Khadafy planned a united front with Syria Iraq and Algeria to back Palestinian guerrilla efforts.
Robert Haden 4 of Venanga Township is in critical condition at Hamot Medical Center Erie after a snowy Route 8 crash with a dump truck driven by James Nicholson 21 of Janesville. A passenger James Roden 55 was treated and released for contusions and leg damage. No injuries reported for the dump truck driver.
Shirley Gareta, found guilty by an all-woman jury in Crown Point, conspired to murder her husband Leroy. Prosecutors said she enlisted a friend and an undercover detective, offering $200 and a plan involving fake crime details. A Dec 16 hearing will determine sentencing under Indiana law.
